Daft Dart DoingsA brief insight into the Dart trip 17th-18th December 2005All those who went arrived safely. At least if they didn’t I haven’t heard. Lots of people brought their friends and that’s the way it should be. I just can’t remember all their names. A bit crowded with 28 people and only 18 beds in the bunkhouse so plenty of dossing in cars, on floors and in the drying room. Plenty of younger paddlers who had under 25 activities in the kitchen although somehow the over 25’s couldn’t keep away. Richard cooked a tsunami tribute meal. Mushroom soup, chicken in coconut milk, both with lots of ginger followed by mince pies with custard then cheese and biscuits. Some of the under 25’s crunched their lumps of ginger with a knowing smile but I don’t think any were as lucky as Colin. River low. Most paddled the loop at least once. Other activities included walking and cycling. Especially good to see how Lauren, Jo, Ryan and Tom are improving. I’m looking forward to being rescued by them in the alps in a year or three. Lee demonstrated the new sport of downhill plastic box racing. Sadly the wheels on his Ferrari inspired red plastic box melted and he crashed and bled. Never mind Lee I expect you had more fun than Michael Schumacher. Back to the pub for a rethink. Thanks to Lee for organizing, Richard for cooking, Trevor’s mum for cakes and everyone else for being there. Best stop now - I’m starting to make it sound like a WI meeting. Ray Rawlinson |
